Volunteer - Will it cost me anything to be a volunteer? Expand There is no cost to volunteering with RLSS UK and we will reimburse reasonable food and travelling expenses. If you are on benefit support, volunteering will not affect those.
Volunteer - Do you offer training? Expand Our volunteers go through an induction process. Training opportunities will also be offered whenever appropriate on an ongoing basis.
Volunteer - How much of my time will volunteering take up? Expand No matter what your availability is, we can generally find something to fit with your schedule – from a couple of hours to four or five days a week. We also have occasional roles that are available on weekdays and weekends, morning, evening and afternoons.
Volunteer - What skills do I need to volunteer? Expand This will depend on the role and activities you wish to undertake. Some of our roles demand a certain amount of skills and experience but these will be made clear before you apply for the volunteer role. However, most of our opportunities require no particular skills other than your motivation, enthusiasm, commitment and willingness to work in a team.

We have ongoing roles that we are recruiting for and informal ones that are one-off volunteering opportunities. Volunteer - I have a disability can I volunteer? Expand At RLSS UK we do our best to accommodate volunteers with a disability. Volunteering opportunities take place in various locations across the UK and Ireland. Some of the locations we work in can be very challenging, however, we are committed to exploring every possible option to enable people with a disability to volunteer with RLSS UK. Please make us aware in your application form of your disability needs so that we can best accommodate you.
Volunteer - Who can volunteer? Expand If you are interested in supporting us, we’d love to hear from you and get you involved. Our volunteers come from diverse backgrounds from professionals, students, clubs and branch members. We welcome applications from anyone 16-years-of-age or older.

Expand You can get involved in many ways at RLSS UK – whether its street, town or store collections, fundraising, volunteer lifeguarding, supporting a local lifesaving group or raising awareness to prevent drowning and water safety education at community and national events.
Volunteer - Why Volunteer with RLSS UK? Expand We have a huge challenge facing us to help save lives and reduce the number of UK and Irish citizens drowning. By volunteering, you will not only be helping us save lives and deliver water safety education but achieve our organisational purpose to prevent drowning and deliver a year on year reduction in the rate of British and Irish citizens drowning. We hope that as a Volunteer you will use your skills to get involved at RLSS UK, learn or improve existing skills, meet new people and increase your confidence and self-esteem. You will be pivotal in encouraging members of the public to make a difference and contribute in various ways to RLSS UK. Most importantly, you will gain experience of volunteering for us for your CV and future endeavours.
