This includes a full assessment of your knowledge and skills by an independent assessor. Prior to the renewal assessment, you must have completed 10-hours of Continual Professional Development (CPD) from the date of your previous assessment. CPD must cover content from the OWL syllabus: Section 1: The Open Water Lifeguard, environment, hazards and supervision (at least 2 hours) Section 2: Responding to an emergency and taking action (at least 2 hours) Section 3: CPR and First Aid (at least 2 hours) CPD can be achieved by: Attendance at open water lifeguard ongoing training and competency assessment (strongly recommended) Attendance at alternative training, face-to-face or online, relating to In-open water rescue skills, CPR, First Aid and open water lifeguard theory Failure to renew within the period of validity of your existing OWL will result in you undertaking the full OWL course and assessment again. This carries an approximate £200 charge and an 18-hour training commitment.
